With our Bishops and Priests ...
What Can I DO?
Catholic Complacency exists because it’s
been allowed to; perhaps even cultivated by those entrusted with
helping us gain our salvation.
Great leadership combats Complacency!
So, what can ordinary good lay people do?
for a short list for your consideration.
We in this Lay
Organization stand with
and support the Bishops of the Catholic
Church, in concert with the Papal
Authority, who are Champions of Life.
Confronting • Complacent • Catholicism
We live in an Immoral Society…mired in the Culture
of Death. A few Good people are out-numbered. Others do very
little. Most are silent, apathetic, or complacent. Catholic principles
(as expressed in the Catholic Catechism) are ignored, if even
known. We, laity, are at fault. We don’t know our faith well enough to
express it or display it in our daily lives.
4C TODAY is
an organization of Catholic laity concerned about the apathy and
complacency prevalent within the Catholic community of the United
States. We believe we are experiencing a leadership crisis; a crisis
evidenced by the silence of a significant number of our clergy on the
most important and basic issue of all...Catholicism itself!
We are deeply concerned about this Leadership
void. We’ve taken the name “Catholics Confronting Complacent Catholicism”, CCCC, or 4C,
specifically, 4CToday (to
convey the urgency of this
effort), to draw attention to
the problem. We are first and
foremost Pro Life, Pro Traditional Marriage, and Pro Religious Freedom.
But a declining, Mass-attending Catholic population makes the Pro
Life message less effective than it can/should be.
A necessary first step is to get Catholics back into our
churches; back to the Sacraments. Our goal is to awaken the appreciation
of Catholicism, and the moral conscience of Catholics in this country,
through the leadership of our clergy; bishops, priests and deacons. Our
focus and goal is to address the need for Internal Church
evangelization. We will search for, recognize, and further encourage,
those clergy who speak out to deepen awareness of Church
Catechesis, which is sadly lacking in our parishes and dioceses today.
We will address the general issue of poor Catechesis through a
grassroots approach in our parishes.
The more specific Pro Life issues will be addressed through our
corporate initiatives of identifying and encouraging Catholic Bishops
who exemplify Champion of Life attributes.
